I think before I go into the financial part of the business, I would like us to look again at why did you decide to work at home?

Mostly people say its because they wanted to work for themselves, or be their own boss. Create free time or the money they create is money in their pocket.

It is all fine and well worth statements, but we sometimes take the money part so serious that we forget that we actually need satisfied customers. The drive to make the first sale is so overwhelming that we neglect customer service. Its no wonder that 80 percent businesses fail from the start. The 80 / 20 rule is visible everywhere we go. 20% of your customers will bring in 80% of your income.

Your customer or potential customer is your biggest asset.  Treat them with respect, and friendliness and you will have a customer forever, does not matter if your business is online or a brick and mortar type of business. Sometimes after buying a product, I felt cheated or not good because of the attitude or reaction I got giving my money. It almost felt that was the only thing they wanted in they first place. OK we are all in business to make money, but service and respect give you miles of advantage above your competition.

In online businesses it is even more applicable as you don’t face your customer. You will need to design your system as such that the client feels that they can still count on your support when they have questions or anything else they might want to discuss.

Treat your customer as if it will be you standing in front of yourself. How do you want to be treated?

In the online business people are so used to get free items with their sale, but is that really necessary in the first place to make that sale?  What if your client gets treated with so much respect and dignity that they feel valued, will that not make a better contribution and keep that client yours for ever.

Let me wrap up.

Don’t design your business around making money, but design it to give your potential client value, respect and dignity. Money will follow anyway. If I feel comfortable with a site, I will easily flick my card and make a payment. Its just natural.

To give is so much better than to receive.

If your worries about money reflect in your business, you will chase your potential customers away, bottom line.

Till next time, stay well
